I am still blown away by how much I loved Shark Heart. I sobbed and laughed and I am still thinking about that book. It was so different and so easy to just go with it. I was something like 1000 on the library list for Onyx Storm and I dropped it - but you've inspired me to put it back on hold. at least by the time it gets to me the wait for book 4 will be shorter!
Yes! Despite the premise being pretty off-the-wall, it's such an easy book to fall into and connect with the characters. I think what's happening to Lewis is very strange, but also very relatable to other kinds of fast-moving illnesses or conditions. Good luck on the Onyx Storm list!
I go through these wild phases in my life where I, a person who loves reading, cannot get into books. But The Horrors have shoved me back into them, mostly as a way of avoiding online doom. I read Long Island Compromise which was ... a lot ... and then became good/poignant. And I just finished the Fellowship of Puzzlemakers which was a cozy "mystery" of sorts.
