I absolutely have to read This American Ex-Wife (in fact, I just saw it was in my cart from my last shopping trip!) after you “divorce can help women take back power in their own lives.” That resonates for a lot of reasons. After I read, we will need to chat!
I think you'll like it! There are definite thematic overlaps between divorce memoirs and widow memoirs that always make them resonate with me, even if the circumstances are so different.
I have Blacktop Wasteland but have shied away from starting it because, like you say, I know it's going to be a rough ride. Always been interested in the Thursday Murder Club books!
The Thursday Murder Club books are such a riot! I've done all of them as audiobooks, and enjoyed that format. The violence in Blacktop Wasteland is pretty intense -- I think maybe because it's just so visceral and well-written? It's a great book, and a tough one.
my favorite thing i read in march was Your Mixtape Unravels my Heart, a book of short stories I got in Ireland on my last trip there.
That sounds like a fun one! I love that title.
